2026-09-11 – 2026-09-20 | Heritage Open Days – St Mary’s Todmorden 550th Anniversary

11-20 SEPTEMBER: An exhibition of St Mary’s History celebrating the 550th Anniversary of the Church on this site, located at the heart of Todmorden Town Centre.

The Exhibition will be launched for Heritage week with panels sharing St Mary’s history from 1476 to the present day, including text and photos never publicly displayed before. The history will relate St Mary’s history to local and national events such as the Reformation, the Wesleys who preached at St Mary’s and more recent events such as the history of Education at the Endowed School on the site. There will also be stories of church members past and present, with colourful vicars like Henry Crabtree and William Grimshaw. The architectural history of the building and its development will also be traced and there will also be a celebration of the life of the Church today, including our LGBTQ history, and partnerships with the Town Council (who are supporting the Exhibition) and with schools and the voluntary sector across Todmorden.

No pre-booking required.
