Fit20 Blog: Sceptical? So were we!

In the latest of our series of blogs by the owners of fit20, in Hipperholme, an innovative exercise and fitness session provider, they look at how they overcame their own scepticism and now fully embrace the Fit20 ethos.

Sceptical? So were we!

It’s natural to have doubts about the effectiveness of a 20-minute workout. We were too when we first found fit20…

But that first time we visited head office and gave it a try; we were blown away. And then, we read the fit20 study and it reinforced our decision to open a studio. We both love to help people, it’s what we have done throughout our careers.

We don’t do quick fixes, and we don’t work out multiple times a week. If that’s what you’re looking for, unfortunately, we’re not the ‘gym’ for you. At fit20, we’ve optimised our training method to deliver maximum results in minimal time. fit20 is a safe form of High Intensity Training. It requires an intensive effort in a short space of time.

Research proves that this kind of intense training requires just 20 minutes per week to be effective.

We are about:
1. Enhancing your overall health, functionality and fitness.
2. Building a sustainable exercise regime, that fits into your schedule, every week, for life.
3. Consistency, you attend your session each week and your personal trainer guides you.
4. Manageable time commitment, one session, once a week and that’s your strength training covered.
5. Realistic results, we guarantee you’ll gain strength. You’re very likely to find your clothes fit better. You can lose weight with fit20; however this is not as important as body composition.

And at fit20, you don’t have to be a slave to the gym to gain strength and reach your fitness goals. The body needs a strong stimulus to gain this strength, it must exceed a certain limit. That’s where your fit20 personal trainer comes in. They help you safely train to the point of muscle failure- this is when the muscle reaches its physiological limit.

You try get just beyond that limit by training a few second longer than you think you can. fit20 training consists of exercising the five major muscle groups – those of the legs, stomach, shoulders and back, chest and arms. The body uses a lot of energy during this type of high intensity training. It takes a week of recovery and rest after your fit20 training. This is when you build muscle, improve your metabolism and replenish your energy!

The recovery period is an indispensable part of the training. For most people the optimum period of rest is a week.

So here we are! Seeing the benefits of fit20 for our wonderful clients and family everyday! And what a rewarding job that is!
