Friends of Lister Lane Cemetery

About Friends of Lister Lane
The Friends of Lister Lane Cemetery seek to promote the conservation and appreciation of the cemetery as a place of remembrance, of historicalimportance, ecological value and natural beauty.

Halifax’s General Cemetery is the last resting place of nearly 20,000 past local residents and others from the 1840s to 1963. These include Mill owners, Chartists, Waterloo Soldiers, Great War fatalities, Nurses, nonconformist clergy, organ builders, and even murder victims. The cemetery – of European significance, has been rescued from jungle conditions over the past eighteen years and is cared for by its Friends, a public charity.
