Reporting Speeding In Your Area

People across West Yorkshire are helping to tackle unsafe speed through ‘community concern sites’.

If someone is worried about speeding drivers in their area, they can report it to their local council. This will then be considered for a speed monitoring assessment.

The results of that could mean that a safety camera van attends in the area and carries out enforcement action in direct response to community concerns.

A total of 64,195 offences were captured at community concern sites across the county last year (April 2025 to March 2026). In addition to those figures, behaviour change is often seen in the area, with offences dropping over multiple visits.

Anyone who is concerned about speeding in their area can do something about it by sharing those concerns on a special website – visit https://www.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/resources/report-road-safety-issues/

Safety cameras enforcement in direct response to community concerns has been shown to deliver improved speed compliance.
