In his latest blog, Bluebird Care Calderdale’s Shabir Hussain looks at an upcoming community event which Bluebird Care Calderdale are co-promoting.
A Feel-Good Afternoon for Our Community – Dementia Has Got Talent
At Bluebird Care Calderdale, we’re proud to support people in their own homes every day through our home care services. But just as importantly, we believe in being part of the wider community too.
That’s why we’re really pleased to be co-hosting a very special event alongside our friends at Calderdale Dementia Friendly Community – “Dementia Has Got Talent.”
Taking place on Saturday 16th May, 2pm–5pm at Pellon Social Club in Halifax, this free event is all about bringing people together in a relaxed, welcoming and uplifting environment.
More than just care
For us, care doesn’t stop at the front door. Supporting people living with dementia – and the families around them – also means helping create opportunities to connect, enjoy life, and feel part of something.
This event is a brilliant example of that.
“Dementia Has Got Talent” is exactly what it sounds like – a celebration of creativity, courage and community. Whether it’s singing, dancing, music, comedy or something completely different, people living with dementia are invited to take to the stage and share their talents. And for those who’d prefer to sit back and enjoy the show, that’s absolutely fine too.
A warm welcome for everyone
There’s no need to book, and everyone is welcome.
If you’re living with dementia, caring for a loved one, or simply want to support a fantastic local event, we’d love to see you there. It’s a chance to spend a few hours in good company, enjoy some entertainment, and maybe even discover something new.
There will be food and hot drinks available, and even a bar – all contributing to a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere.
Why events like this matter
We know that dementia can sometimes feel isolating – for both the person living with it and their family. Events like this help break down those barriers.
They remind us that there’s still so much joy, personality and talent to celebrate. They also create space for people to meet others who understand, share experiences, and simply enjoy being out together.
Come along and support
If you or someone you know might enjoy this afternoon, please do spread the word.
And if you’d like to perform, you can find out more by calling 07884 966 756.
We’re really looking forward to being part of this special day – and we hope to see plenty of familiar and new faces there.
Let’s celebrate our community together.
