Report: Pension Credit Journeys

The Department for Work and Pensions has published a new report which explores awareness and experiences of Pension Credit (PC) among older adults.

Based on interviews with 70 pension-age participants, it found most people understood PC as a pension top-up but were unclear about eligibility when applying. Applicants were motivated by financial need, changes in circumstances or encouragement from others. Overall, the process was simpler than expected, particularly for those familiar with benefits. Recipients were grateful for PC, though many still struggled with rising costs.
