Independent Age: Help with your rent or mortgage

The older person’s website, Independent Age, has put together a great guide to managing housing costs. See below for details and link to the key information on their website:

Managing housing costs can become more challenging over time, especially with living expenses going up. If you’re on a low income and you’re renting or you have a mortgage, you may be entitled to financial support towards these costs.

You may be able to get Housing Benefit to help with your rent – and if this does not cover your full rent, your local council may be able to help.

If you own your home, you might qualify for a Support for Mortgage Interest loan to help with mortgage interest payments if you’re getting certain benefits.

You can find more about support you could get on Independent Age’s webpage Help with your rent or mortgage | Independent Age.

You can also order the latest version of their Help with housing costs guide which looks at the help you can get towards your rent, service charges or mortgage.
