Brighouse BID have shared details of upcoming disruption in the town, from January 12th 2026.
Here’s what they have to to say about the disruption, the reasons for it and how it might affect you:
As we are all well aware, next year will see some big changes to the town centre with construction due to begin of the Town Deal scheme in Brighouse. We know this will bring disruption, and we will be holding those doing the work – Esh Construction – to their promises of making that disruption as limited as possible. We’ve been told they are delivering a letter to all town centre premises this week, so hopefully you should have received this. If you haven’t, you can read a copy here on the Town Deal website >>
The letter also includes the latest phase one plan for which roads will be closed – you can see this here >>
There is also a much more detailed traffic management plan available here >>
From our understanding, this means from Monday 12th January:
- Commercial Street will close to traffic from the junction with Gooder Lane through to the Park Street junction.
- Market Street and West Park Street will close to traffic.
- Bethel Street will be closed to traffic from the Park Street / car park junction through Thornton Square and Briggate.
All parking on these roads will be suspended, but we are assured access for deliveries will be maintained and access for shoppers and pedestrians will also be maintained at all times. A signed diversion for traffic will be from the Methodist Church along the dual carriageway to Sainsbury’s and the Lawson Road roundabout, and vice versa.
Esh have asked us to pass on that if you have any problems, questions or issues you would like to raise either now or once the work begins, if you drop them an email to BrighousePR@esh.uk.com then they will respond asap.
