Southowram Over Fifties Activities (SOFA) is a community group for people in the Southowram and Brighouse areas offering a wide range of activities.

More about SOFA
SOFA was set up in 2011, as part of Calderdale Council’s Neighbourhood Schemes.  Its aim is to offer people primarily in the 50 plus age group within the community of Southowram and surrounding areas, a range of fun activities to help promote their health and well-being.  There is a small membership fee as well as low cost session fees.

Activities

Mondays, at the Community Centre, Law lane  Southowram HX3 9QJ 

1.15 pm to 2.45 pm

ART GROUP

Try your hand with watercolours, acrylics or pastels.  All materials provided.  There is no tutor, but members support and encourage each other.

3.00 pm to 4.00 pm 

TAI CHI

A gentle form of exercise which helps with balance and flexibility.  Led by a qualified tutor.

Tuesdays, at St Anne’s Church Community Rooms Church Lane HX3 9TD

2.00 pm to 3.00 pm

NEW AGE KURLING

A fun game which can be played from a standing or seated position.

2.00 pm to 3.15 pm

SOUTHOWRAM HARMONY

A singing group, suitable for all abilities – there are no auditions or solos!  Led by a qualified singing tutor.

Thursdays, at St Anne’s church community rooms

NEW AGE KURLING

Equipment is provided but you are welcome to bring along your own.

SIMPLE PILATES

Bring a mat if you have one, althoiugh there are mats provided, and wear loose clothing.

Pilates for everyday life, led by a qualified instructor.
