6 DECEMBER: Halifax Film Society present International film “Blackbird, Blackbird, Blackberry” at The Maurice Jagger Centre, Halifax.
This 2023 film is in Georgian with sub-titles.
Etero, a 48-year-old woman living in a small village in Georgia, never wanted a husband. She cherishes her freedom as much as her cakes. Unexpectedly, she finds herself passionately falling for a man, and is suddenly faced with the decision to pursue a relationship or continue a life of independence.
“It’s a film which tells us what most films contrive to ignore: love and sex is not just for the lovely and the sexy and the young. This is a gentle, sensual gem of a film.”
Peter Bradshaw The Guardian
When: Sunday 6 December at 7.30pm
Where: The Maurice Jagger Centre, Winding Road, Halifax HX1 1UZ – opposite the bus station.
