Halifax’s Cockleshell Hero

Did you know that one of the “Cockleshell Heroes” was a Halifax man? His nephew is now raising funds for a permanent memorial in Halifax to his relative. Here’s what he has to say about the appeal:
I am the nephew, and namesake, of Marine David Moffatt who took part in Operation Frankton in December 1942. Marine Moffatt died on the raid age 22. We aim to create a memorial to Marine Moffatt in his home town of Halifax.
We are fundraising through individual donations and a Just Giving Appeal. We are currently at 80% of our fundraising target and any contribution would help us achieve our aim of honouring Mne David Moffatt in his home town.
