All the waste and recycling centres across Calderdale will be returning to seven day opening, at no additional cost to Council taxpayers. The changes will be introduced by the end of 2026, and ahead of the Christmas and New Year period, which is one of the busiest times.
Tips for recycling collections
- Put containers out by 6:00am.
- Keep streets clear for collection vehicles.
- Flatten or cut cardboard to fit into your recycling box, take larger amounts to HWRCs.
- Wash, squash & seal your cans and plastics to keep them secure in your white sack.
- Reuse & Recycle
Batteries & vapes: never put in bins due to fire risk – return to retailers or HWRC collection points. - Excess waste: take to any HWRC.
- Reuse Shop (Brighouse HWRC): donate unwanted gifts or shop for all sorts of pre-loved items.
