26 JUNE: Taste your way around Todmorden on this brand-new walking tour! Incredible Edible Todmorden have teamed up with Todmorden Markets to explore the growing spaces that changed how the world thinks about local food. Along the way, you’ll see why food – growing it, cooking it, sharing it – matters so deeply to people in this thriving market town.
What to Expect
12pm: Your experience begins in true Todmorden style: with a drink from the famous Todmorden Market Coffee Bar. Meet your guides, settle in, and get your first glimpse of this unique Victorian, glass roofed Indoor Market in the heart of Todmorden.
12.15pm: Join Incredible Edible Todmorden for a guided walking tour around their iconic growing sites. Hear how the project began, why Todmorden remains its flagship example, and how growing food in public places can change the way we live, shop, and connect with one another. As you walk, you’ll get hands-on with the growing spaces themselves – picking and tasting fresh herbs and edible plants straight from the beds, learning about their culinary and medicinal uses, and picking up tips you can take home to your own garden or windowsill.
2pm: After your walk, you’ll head back to Todmorden Market for a relaxed late lunch. Here, the traders will treat you to a grazing box of delicious food provided by market traders, showcasing the flavours, produce, and personalities that make the market such a cornerstone of the town. Take the time afterwards to visit the market stalls, chat with friendly traders and maybe even pick up something for tea!
