Calderdale now has five Better Lives Hubs, in Halifax, Brighouse, Elland, Illingworth and Mixenden.
Better Lives Hubs offer the opportunity to have a face to face conversation with a professional from Adult Social Care (Social Services), the NHS, people working in Voluntary and Community Sector services and other organisations that may be able to provide support.
Brighouse
Last Friday of every month 9.30am to 12pm.

Halifax
Every Wednesday 10:00 – 4:00
At Age UK at the Woolshops in Central Halifax (between the Piece Hall and Marks and Spencer’s).
Mixenden
Every other Thursday 1.30 – 3.00 (drop in but appointments may also be available on request)

What are the aims of Better Lives Hubs?
They aim to offer a responsive face to face alternative to ringing the Gateway to Care line, or filling out online forms, where
queries can be answered there and then. The Council are working in partnership with other organisations who already exist
within the heart of communities. For example, one of they hubs is based in Age UK in Halifax town centre, whilst others are based in Family Hubs, Community Hubs, Churches and Primary Care buildings.
Where can I find a Better Lives Hub?

Why would I visit a Better Lives Hub?
They can offer advice, guidance and support on a range of issues to support your wellbeing and independence. Whether it be about making new friends, managing safely at home, carrying out essential daily living tasks or if you are generally worried about something, they will try to help or recommend and connect you to someone who can.
What can I expect when I attend a Better Lives Hub?
They will want to know the reason why you have approached them and what the outcome is that you are looking to achieve. They will work with you to help you achieve your goal or outcome.
Who would I see at a Better Lives Hub?
Staff include Social Care Advisors, Service Co-ordinators, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and people from other organisations who may be able to help.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is necessary, you can drop in during the opening times and ask to see someone. You may have a short wait to be seen.
