1 NOVEMBER – Halifax Film Society is screening “Santosh” a 2024 movie in Hindi with sub-titles.
Newly widowed Santosh inherits her husband’s job as a police constable in the rural badlands of Northern India. When a girl’s body is found, she’s pulled into the investigation under the wing of charismatic feminist inspector Sharma.
“As well as working rivetingly as a procedural thriller and a psychological study, Santosh has a hard, documentary-like edge, exploring Indian social phenomena with intense analytical focus.” Wendy Idle Financial Times
When: Sunday 1 November at 7.30pm
Where: The Maurice Jagger Centre, Lister St. Halifax HX1 1UZ (opposite the bus station)
