13-16 July 2023 in Hebden Bridge
You are invited to the Open Space 70′ environmental arts festival, made by and for the people of Calderdale.
Taking place from 13-16 July 2023 in Hebden Bridge and surrounding areas, this vibrant celebration merges creativity, nature, and the urgent call of the climate emergency.
Expect the unexpected as Open Space 70’s events programme offers guided nature walks, film screenings, art installations, poetry readings, workshops, live performances, lectures, music, a magic show, and a captivating ‘moth night’ across a range of free, paid for and by donation events with something for all ages to get involved in.
The festival also includes a weekend Arts Trail that invites attendees to explore creative works exhibited in unconventional ‘opened up’ spaces such as people’s homes, gardens, garages and allotments.
Among the highlights of the programme is Flight // In Conversation by Propellor on Saturday 15 July. On this special day of music and discussion, Flight // In Conversation will take the audience on a journey that traces the connections between astounding bird migrations, soundscape ecology, and music – where live interview meets ensemble playing and improvisation.

There are two performances of Flight on Saturday 15 July at Hope Baptist Church – 3pm for a relaxed performance, or 8pm which includes a Q&A. These performances are brought to us by Propellor, a twelve-piece daring cross-genre ensemble of multi-instrumentalists from a variety of musical backgrounds.
