Up-coming workshop: Tension & Stress Relief

Learn how to relieve Stress & Tension via this morning of guided body work exploration with exercises and techniques from Shiatsu and TRE.

The workshop takes place on Sunday 2nd July from 10am to 1pm at The Hebden Therapy Centre, Valley Road, Hebden Bridge HX7 7BN.

Price from £20 to £30 including teas, coffees, herbal teas, as well as biscuits and fruit. Vegan options available. Printed handouts of key exercises will also be available.

This group workshop is all about helping you feel empowered to relieve stress and tension held within your body.

Together you will explore a number of exercises and techniques from Shiatsu and TRE (Trauma and Stress Release Exercises) approaches. By the end of the session you will have familiarised yourself with a number of practical self care strategies and techniques to take away and use independently whenever you need them.

When we experience stress, physical responses in the body can cause pain and discomfort which can impact your emotional and physical wellbeing long after the immediate source of stress has passed. Doing physical gentle bodywork is a fantastic way of exploring and regulating the impacts of stress.

TRE has been developed to help you release stress and tension from your muscles and fascia. You will be taught seven accessible exercises which will encourage your natural tremoring or ‘shaking’ response. You will lie down and be guided through a natural stress release session. Most people experience TRE as relaxing, supportive and fun! You can find more information on this approach here.

Shiatsu is a physical therapy which uses a combination of pressure points, gentle manipulation and stretching to re-energise weak areas and reduce tension in the body. By applying sensitive, mindful, static touch with thumbs, fingers and palms, the Shiatsu giver affects the functioning of physical systems such as nervous, circulatory and respiratory, thus supporting the body’s innate self-healing abilities and promoting a sense of relaxation and well-being.

Frances is a professional shiatsu holistic acupressure practitioner, theatre performer and creative facilitator. She runs a private shiatsu clinic in Hebden Bridge and regularly facilitates online and in person guided self-shiatsu & qigong bodywork sessions.

Hetty is an experienced therapeutic social worker trained in trauma and attachment focussed talking therapies and body based approaches, including TRE and EMDR.
