Regular community drop-in mornings and lunches for older people in Brighouse

Brighouse Rest Centre is an excellent community facility run for older people by a committed team of volunteers and open every day except Sunday in the centre of Brighouse.

The Centre is open daily, including Saturdays for breakfast and/or mid-morning refreshments from 10am to 12 noon and also for lunch on Wednesday, staying open until approx. 2pm.

It is based in Park Row, Brighouse, directly opposite the back entrance to the Overgate Hospice Furniture Shop.

The breakfast menu includes bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes, crumpets and soup. Prices range from 25p for a slice of toast to £2.50 for a full English breakfast.

A 3 course lunch each Wednesday costs just £5.50 but you need to arrive by 11.30am to place your order. Lunches are served at midday.

The team of volunteers provide a warm welcome, ensuring “lone” guests are able to feel comfortable.

The Centre also hosts a number of groups during the evenings including Halifax Society for the Blind’s Brighouse Group for the visually impaired.

Brighouse Rest Centre is a registered charity and dependent upon its volunteers as well as donations and income from catering.

If you are interested in visiting or joining the friendly team of volunteers, you are welcome to drop-in to the centre during opening hours.
