Shibden Park
Shibden Estate is one of West Yorkshire’s most important heritage sites and is a lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon. You can explore Shibden’s beautifully restored grounds, which were commissioned by Anne Lister and influenced by the picturesque landscape movement of the early 19th century.

People’s Park
People’s Park is one of the finest surviving examples of a “Joseph Paxton” Park. Created in 1857, the Park was donated to the people of Halifax by Sir Francis Crossley. To the west of the town centre, the 12.5 acre park is in the heart of a conservation area.

Manor Heath Park
The park occupies the site of a Victorian Mansion, which was built in 1852 with splendid views over the valley. It was the home of the famous Halifax carpet maker, John Crossley of John Crossley and sons. Their factory at Dean Clough Mills was half a mile long! The house was knocked down in 1958 after falling into ruin. Where the house was is now the beautiful sunken garden.

The park is next to Savile Park and is a 15 minute walk from King Cross, Halifax.

Thompson Park
A popular and beautiful Edwardian park, located close to the centre of Burnley and recently restored with support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund. There are attractions for all ages and abilities, car parking, toilets and a cafe. Please note that dogs are not permitted in Thompson Park.
