New dementia friendly housing in Brighouse

Coming Spring 2022 – Railway Bridge View, Brighouse

Do you know of someone who perhaps isn’t coping in their current home setting and would benefit from care and support in a community environment? Then read on….

The Council’s Housing Strategy and Growth Team have been working in partnership with Home Group, to develop a 65 apartment dementia friendly extra care scheme on the outskirts of Brighouse town centre which will be welcoming residents in Spring.

The benefits of extra care include:

    • The privacy and security of your own home
    • On-site care team 24/7
    • Social inclusion and opportunity to meet and socialise with likeminded people
    • An impressive range of communal facilities open to both residents and the general public
    • Assistive technology to increase and promote independence.

Whilst the majority of the apartments will be set at affordable rental prices, there will be five apartments available to purchase through shared ownership. Although shared ownership is a popular scheme amongst first time buyers and growing families, the scheme is also open to the older generation enabling people to downsize and unlock capital (find out more here 1-2 bed apartments at Railway Bridge View | Persona Homes (yourpersonahome.com)).

The facilities at Railway Bridge View include multiple communal / activity areas and two elevated garden areas, together with a salon, café bar, restaurant, assisted bathing suite and a guest room. Pets are more than welcome too!

Not only will the scheme increase the housing and care options available to older people in our borough, including those living with dementia, it will also support their partners and carers, helping them to maintain their independence in circumstances that otherwise might leave them little choice but to go into residential care. The scheme will be the only dementia focused extra care scheme in the borough and one of few in the North.
