Our blog from Craig at Staying Well Hub describes a recent community activity day at Beechwood Park.
We had a great day at Beachwood Park on 18 August, despite the less than perfect weather. We had Art in the
Park, courtesy of The Artworks team and Pimp my Pebble from Natalie, our Senior Community Organiser
from Placed Based Social Action. It was great to see everyone getting creative in the tent and both old and young produced some fantastic works of art.
Our visitors for the day had a chance to find out about fishing from Dan, one of our Ward Link Workers. He’s an avid
fisherman and is developing a project to introduce more people to the sport he loves – impressive as
he set up an ingenious demo on a football pitch!
Karen, a Ward Link Worker, did a litter pick in the afternoon, along with the Friends of Beechwood
Park. The bowling club, kindly opened up to provide toilets, tea/coffee and massive, delicious cakes!
They also offered free bowling sessions to encourage people, new to bowling, to have a go.
Last but certainly not least was the lovely folk from Tai-Chi Tigers, where guests and staff tried their hand at
Tai-Chi, which was very relaxing.
It was a fun and successful event, the first after the restrictions have lifted. With groups and
activities starting to open up again, we look forward to supporting our clients to try new activities
and meet friends, old and new. If you or someone you know would like support getting out and
about please get in touch with us.
