Carers Week 2021 | 7 – 11 June

This year’s Carers Week will run from 7 – 11 June 2021. It’s an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and pave the way for policy makers to provide greater support for carers in the long term. There are lots of ways you can start getting involved now and show your support for carers.

The Carers Week website has a whole host of resources to help you take part.

The Big Lunch 2021

The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual big date to celebrate and give thanks to our neighbours and communities. Started in 2009, it’s an idea from the Eden Project that each year brings 6 million people together, made possible by The National Lottery and supported by new headline sponsors Iceland Foods. Find out more about The Big Lunch below, including how your organisation can get involved if you wish.

Every year during The Big Lunch, people meet, chat and have fun in their neighbourhoods, annually fundraising £8m for local causes they care about. This year, there are even more reasons than ever to get together and enjoy The Big Lunch, as the big date on 5-6 June kicks off a Month of Community, offering a feast of opportunities to share friendship and fun, and make positive local connections in your area.

Find out all about The Big Lunch on their website.

Thank You Day | July 4th

The last twelve months have been difficult for everyone, and we couldn’t have got through it without each other. Starting from just 13 individuals proposing a Thank You Day, the idea is now supported by hundreds of organisations across the country, ranging from the Scouts and Guides to Rotary and the Royal Voluntary Service, NHS, The Mirror and the Sun, the Football Association and the Church of England.

The aim of Thank You Day is to make Sunday 4th July the day for everyone to get together in the sunshine (fingers crossed!) raise a glass or a cuppa, and say a great big thank you to everyone who’s been helping us through this past year.

Find out how you can get involved on the Thank You Day website.

With many smaller charities fearing for their futures, what are the most cost-effective strategies for recovery?

In this Third Sector webinar in partnership with the Open University, they focus on what every charity should be doing now, to survive and thrive in the long-term – from upskilling their people to continuing their digital transformation.
