Shibden Hall is 600 Years Old

The first reference to Shibden Hall was six-hundred years ago. This year we’ll be sharing online content and asking for your memories of Shibden Hall to celebrate its history and all the people that have lived, worked and visited here over the centuries. Keep an eye on our social media @ShibdenHall

Find out more about our plans to celebrate Shibden’s 600 year anniversary.

Famous FiguresWe’ve been adding more biographies to our Famous Figures page, celebrating people’s stories linked to our collections; from local inventors and manufacturers to global explorers. For International Women’s Day 2021 check out the adventures of Lizzie Humphries and Edith Durham. Take a look here.

To celebrate Anne Lister of Shibden Hall’s birthday this year we’ll be sharing some behind the scenes films from Shibden Hall online on Saturday 3rd April, exploring her remarkable legacy and achievements. Our next e-news will have more details and you can also follow us on social media @ShibdenHall.

Whilst we are closed…

Bankfield Museum and Shibden Hall sadly remain closed to visitors so we won’t be open over Easter or for Anne Lister’s birthday this year. Meanwhile, filming for Gentleman Jack Series Two continues in the region and on site, and you can still explore Shibden Hall with our online 3D tour of the site and our online exhibitions.
