Age UK’s Telephone Friendship Service has now re-opened for applications from volunteers.
Thanks to the overwhelming response from the general public during the first few months of the national lockdown, Age UK closed its volunteer recruitment programme.
The charity is now recruiting again for telephone befrienders.
The role involves being matched with an older person for a regular phone call, and allows you to volunteer safely from your home or workplace. They are looking for people who love having a chat and can commit to making a 30 minute call once a week at a regular day and time. Being a telephone friendship volunteer is so rewarding – many of the older people receiving this service say it’s the highlight of their week!
