Cashless Car Parking Extended in Calderdale

Cashless, contact-free parking options have now been introduced across Calderdale.

The option to pay for parking without cash will make it easier and more convenient for many people and has been in place in Halifax town centre since November 2019, through the smart parking system, AppyParking.

Cashless payment options have now also been introduced in the additional 32 car parks and 111 pay and display machines across the borough – meaning alternative payment methods are now available to everyone.

The system has been set up in partnership with APCOA Parking. Customers will be able to quickly and conveniently pay for parking using the APCOA Connect app, or by phone, without having to touch the payment machines.

Cash payments will still be accepted at all machines if preferred.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Services and Communities, Cllr Susan Press, said:

“We know that having the flexibility to be able to pay for parking by different methods is increasingly popular and I’m pleased we’re able to introduce cashless parking options across the borough.

“The payment system is also contact-free, supporting our COVID safety measures. Although our payment machines are regularly cleaned, many residents and car park users have indicated they would prefer an alternative option.

“Cash payments will continue to be accepted, but when using the machines we ask people to continue to respect social distancing measures. It’s also important to regularly wash hands or use sanitiser, particularly after handling money or using public machines.”

Clear signage and instructions on how to use the cashless payment system will be provided in Calderdale car parks and on pay and display machines. More information is available at
