New local radio show for people self-isolating launches

Awakening Arts are launching Harmony Hub on Phoenix Radio: a radio show for older people self-isolating and people with dementia.

Harmony Hub Radio is a new radio show designed to support people to keep moving, feel connected and be creative.

The show will air on Phoenix FM, our local community radio station on 96.7 FM, every Monday at 1pm, starting on the 17 of August.  They also plan to release the episode as a podcast on their website to increase accessibility.

The show will include some guided movement, poems and memorable songs, as well as an interview with an inspiring older person and a guest slot with a local musician.

A supporting handout will provide a basis for conversation, memory sharing and some ideas and materials for a related art activity.

Listeners, both individuals and care home residents, will be invited to contribute to guiding and refining the show; making sure that it will best serve older residents at this time.

Before the Coronavirus lockdown Awakening Arts ran a creative group at Hebden Bridge Town Hall.  They hope Harmony Hub will help bring back some of the human connections that are so much missed.  Awakening Arts  are really keen to reach individuals self-isolating at home and have creativity and reflection packs to send out to people in their homes. If you would like to receive one of their art packs, please get in touch.
