Calderdale Council opens waste re-cycling centres on 11 May

Calderdale Council has announced it is re-opening two of their Household Waste Recycling Centres from Monday 11 May.

Brighouse and Halifax centres will reopen on a restricted basis, with strict safety measures in place to protect staff and visitors.  The use of these centres is for Calderdale residents only and only one person will be allowed per car.  The sites can accept:

Bagged general household waste
Garden waste
Bulky items of household waste.

No electrical bulky items can be disposed of at the present time.

Staff will not be able to assist with unloading waste from vehicles so the Council asks that residents only bring items they can safely carry on their own.  Queuing will be monitored and managed by staff at entrances.   Vehicles should be switched off to reduce pollution.

Opening times as follows:
Monday to Friday, 8am – 4.30pm
Saturday, 8am – 3.30pm
Sunday, 9am – 3.30pm

There may be short closures for cleaning or skip exchanges and long queues are expected.

Other centres across Calderdale remain closed for the time being.

It is also advised that people how are self-isolating or have COVID-19 symptoms do not attend a recycling centre.
