The Greater Manchester Older People’s Network is a voice for older people. They aim to make sure that older people can express their opinions and get their voices heard. They want older people to be given opportunities to participate and for those opportunities to be meaningful and pleasurable for participants, with areal chance to influence and make change.
They want an age-friendly Greater Manchester that continues to listen to its older citizens and is the best place for older people that it can be.
In May 2019 the GMOPN held two events in Leigh and Manchester focused on championing older people’s voices through participation. Over 50 people attended the events and took part in workshops about good and bad participation. This report collates the findings from the workshops and outlines the recommendations developed as a result.
