The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Action Week runs from 20-26 May
“From Monday 20 May to Sunday 26 May, it’s Dementia Action Week – a week that unites individuals, workplaces and communities to take action and improve the lives of people living with dementia. Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia. Having dementia shouldn’t mean an isolated life!”
Visit their website to find out more about what’s happening and for suggestions on how to get involved and even host an event of your own.
Locally, Dementia Friendly Sowerby Bridge is hosting a Dementia Action Day in May (the weekend before the start of national Dementia Action Week).
They are inviting a wide range of voluntary and professional organisations to come along to provide information about their services together with support and advice on all aspects of dementia.
The event will run all day on Saturday 18th May at St Paul’s Church Sowerby Bridge.
There will be a marketplace area in which you can display your publicity materials. There are also a limited number of stalls available for organisations to use for larger displays.
Throughout the day, there will be short presentations on various topics.
