Last week saw the launch of a new film, Finding Your Feet, which may strike a chord with those of us who are all to aware of the challenges that can be faced in later life. The film tackels these head-on, but also shows that it’s never too late to start again.
Featuring an all-star cast, including Imelda Staunton CBE, Timothy Spall OBE, Celia Imrie, and Joanna Lumley OBE, the film delves into a range a topics, including loneliness, bereavement, health and keeping active, Finding your feet tells the moving story of how lead character Sandra, played by Imelda Staunton, transforms her life and faces the highs and lows that can come with getting older.
After discovering that her husband of 40 years is having an affair with her best friend, she seeks refuge with her estranged, bohemian, older sister Bif, played by Celia Imrie. Sandra couldn’t be more different from her outspoken, serial dating, free-spirited older sibling, but when Bif drags her along to her community dance class, Sandra gradually starts finding her feet, her self-esteem…. and romance.
