RIPPONDEN: Nearly Neighbours project

Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees have secured funding to deliver a Nearly Neighbours project in Ripponden over the next year and Julie Taylor their Domestic Services Assessor will be managing it.

The aims are to

  • Identify and support older people living in Ripponden
  • Support people to feel more safe and secure in their own communities
  • To help reduce isolation and loneliness
  • Raise awareness and share information on the services available to people in this community

Julie says “I will be working in this area one day a week, making links with local groups and local people to help meet all the outcomes above. I am available to visit/ attend any groups in this area so all input/ suggestions from my colleagues is welcome.

In Ripponden I am available to –

  • Provide home visits to clients in the area
  • Signpost and refer to internal and external services
  • Pass on information
  • Deliver talks to groups about the project
  • Create LIFEBOOKS with clients in these areas

I am also working in partnership with a local café to help provide a Christmas lunch for 16 people. Totally free. Transport will be provided. If you are aware of ANY clients in this area please pass on their information so that I can let them know about this and any additional services that may be available to them.”
