TRANSPORT: Strategy Consultation

Although 2036 may feel a long way off, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority is working in partnership with bus operators and the five West Yorkshire district councils to develop 20-year strategies that will positively influence local travel until that date.

Good transport underpins our economy and developing a single ‘Metro-style’ transport network and delivering over 30 West Yorkshire plus Transport Fund schemes are among the key aims of our shared Strategic Economic Plan.

They have already worked with a range of partners to deliver improvements such as the MCard smartcard, real-time information and modern, low-emission buses. The past six months has seen the opening of new rail stations at Apperley Bridge and Kirkstall Forge as well as the new Leeds Station Southern Entrance.

Now, through this consultation on the West Yorkshire Transport and Bus Strategies, they want to know what you – their customers, communities and businesses – would like to see prioritised for West Yorkshire’s transport.

The Issues

The issues covered by the consultation affect everyone including public transport users, drivers, walkers and cyclists. They affect people wanting to travel for work, training, health purposes, leisure etc. They also impact on how businesses transport goods. The consultation also considers the impact of transport on air quality and health inequalities. They know there will be a lot of interest and many diverse opinions from people across our region on these issues, and they want to hear them all.

Visit a Drop-In Session

There are also nearly 80 drop-in sessions  across West Yorkshire between now and Friday 21 October 2016. These public events will be staffed by experts who can answer any queries, and advise you on having your say.
