In preparation for Bonfire Night, the Council’s Safer Cleaner Greener team is carrying out a Big Autumn Tidy Up in conjunction with the West Yorkshire Fire Service on Monday 2 November. The Council will be on call removing any flytipping/dumping throughout the week and we have also targeted some areas which are in real need of clean.
If any community groups or volunteers would like to get involved in the Big Tidy Up – the locations and time of meets are as follows:
Halifax North & East and Halifax Central
- Ovenden – Meeting at 9am we will be targeting Old Lane from North Bridge through to Keighley Road. This area has been the target for substantial amounts of flytipping and we have worked with private land owners to take responsibility for cleaning up their sites.
Lower Valley
- Rastrick– Targeting the area around Gooder Lane down to Bramston Street and into the Oaklands Estate. Meeting at 9am at the Globe Public House, Rastrick Common
Upper Valley
- Ryburn – Working with Pennine Housing 2000 and the Beechwood Tenants and Residents Association we will be meeting at the Pennine Housing Garage Site off Whiteley Avenue at 9am where we can specifically target this area and all the connecting roads and footpaths throughout the estate from Bates Avenue through to Priestley Place
