COMMUNITY STREET AUDIT: Ovenden

Can you help us check on Nursery Lane? On Wednesday 19 August join us as we Go Walking in Ovenden and take a close look around Nursery Lane, Ovenden. There are lots of reasons people chose not to walk, even relatively short distances. But sometimes the reasons can be due to access issues, or maybe it just feels dirty or unsafe.

The Go Walking project is all about making walking part of daily living, whether it’s a walk to the shops, to school or to the pub! If we want to get people choosing to leave the car behind then we might need to improve some of our routes and walkways.

A Community Street Audit is an easy way of checking and identifying issues when walking about, such as litter, overgrown hedges, poor lighting, traffic or dog fouling. We follow a planned route and ask questions like, is it easy to access for prams or wheelchairs? Is it tidy? Is it safe? If you can help, please meet us at Threeways Centre (Ridings School) in the foyer at 10am.

Tea and coffee will be provided before and after the audit for all volunteers taking part. And everyone is welcome to get involved.

Please do let us know if you can come.

Or if you can’t make this walkabout but are interested in taking part in other walkabouts in North Halifax, please get in touch at team@halifaxnorthnadeast.com or ring 01422 255402.

Many thanks
