Your spare time could be someone else’s lifeline! Do you have a few hours a week to make a real difference in your community? Join the new Social Prescribing volunteers supporting GP surgeries across Calderdale.
We are working alongside GP Practices to help patients address the underlying issues that may be affecting their health and wellbeing, e.g. aging, isolation, depression, and practical issues.
We need community-based volunteers like you to act as Social Prescribers; providing the encouragement, advice and practical support people need to take control of their own lives and improve their wellbeing.
Volunteers will support individuals to develop their own ‘social prescription’, helping them to access supportive social groups, fun classes and other services based in the local area.
So if you have compassion, a sense of community, and a free morning or afternoon a week, we can offer you training and support, and the chance to make a real and positive difference to local people’s lives. If you decide social prescribing is not for you other opportunities will be available, so get in touch and help us build more caring and connected neighbourhoods.
