NEPAL APPEAL: Age UK

On Sunday, Age International and Age UK launched an emergency appeal for Nepal. For the next two weeks, they’ll be encouraging people to donate through the Age UK and Age International websites, social media and our other channels – as well as in their shops and training centres.

You can support older people affected by helping to spread the word about the appeal. If you would like to organise fundraising activities, your support would be most welcome. Any extra funds will help us to reach more vulnerable older people in Nepal as quickly as possible.

How Age UK is supporting the appeal and how partners can help

HelpAge, our international partner, has an existing programme in Nepal with well-established teams in Kathmandu and the Kathmandu Valley area and in two districts bordering the epicentre area.

Our initial focus is on addressing the immediate needs of survivors, so we are supporting the work of the DEC and Age International by calling on the public to donate and help to provide hygiene kits, mobility aids, like walking sticks, temporary shelters, mattresses and blankets

Age International is running the appeal and Age UK are supporting it by promoting it through our channels. Partners can help by signposting the public to the online appeal, liking or sharing our Facebook posts and tweets, and urging everyone to text URGENT to 70004 to donate £5 or to give over the phone on 0800 032 0699 FREE.

If you’d like any more information about the appeal, please contact Ana-Maria Dima at Age International on ana-maria.dima@ageinternational.org.uk or 020 3033 1437.
